I have got to tell you, my husband comes up with some really good ideas,

and this is one of them. 100_1358 For you young pups- you weight lifting gems, and jogging icons, well you might not agree, but for us flower children generation folks, well this might as well say ol’ farts way to move. This one is an 8 ft wide,8 ft tall and 16 ft long plastic storage bin. It is dropped off and you can have it for a minimum of 1 mos , but longer if the moving process does not go smoothly. They even have a secured storage area that the POD could be brought to until you are ready to empty it.

For us, the POD is here, we have it 1/2 full bins of life, bins of 100_1363 memories, bins for the future. Now contrary to my husbands opinion, much of this stuff is necessary for those special moments, and for day to day activities. He does not understand what it is like to need something and be able to walk a few feet down the hall, or go to a cupboard in the kitchen, and to have what you need.

On the left

is our new “burn barrel”. That will be for the burnable garbage, the stuff that is not recyclable, yet not needing to be hauled to the dump. Yep we are going back in time, country folk, squish your trash and take a Saturday jaunt to the dump. We are not quite far enough in the country to be able to step out of the shower and air dry on your back deck, but we are getting closer.

This POD is my new best friend,

I am telling you, it will allow us to move in before we move in. ( what you say does that mean?) Well there are rules, we can not move in and reside there without a certificate of occupancy, BUT our stuff can move in as soon as the house is put together. So here is the plan- we call the POD place when the home construction guys tell us they predict the stuff will be welcome- the POD guys like 5 days notice, so perhaps next week we will give the POD folks a jingle to come and move the POD to the new place the following week. Than we can gradually go up to the land and empty the POD- the rules are that we can bring the stuff in and leave it in the outer parameters of the rooms- out of the way- once we get the stuff in the house, we call the POD folks and they come and get their POD and leave.

Then comes the shed move-

100_0911 uggg, I will feel much better when the 12×16 foot shed is up there. Last weekend we went through every inch of the shed, rafters were emptied, stuff sorted- good stuff, stuff we really did not foresee we would need or want ( some went to good-will and some is waiting to go to it’s new home at the dump)- and some to our neighbors who had plans for our stuff too. The shed dude says ” If I can’t move it no one can” and I really hope not to be the ones who deflate his ego.

It takes the guys about 2 weeks to do all their work

to get the house ready for us to really move in…so I am thinking June 30th ( or that week) we will be writing from the Fulton area.Hopefully our shed will be standing upright as we can not get the certificate of occupancy without a shed.  Our POD will no longer be with us, but the memory of it will last forever! Trust me- you over the hill buddies- think POD if your are thinking move.

Now with the price of fuel I may only be posting once a week, I may have to ride a bike the 38 miles to work !

Love ya! Cindy
